Stay Safe: Frequently Clean the Dryer’s Lint Filter

The hazards of a dirty dryer vent are well documented. Just do a Google search for “dryer fire” and see how many were caused by a clogged vent. Dryer fires leave behind a burned-out home or building, but the true tragedy of them all is that 99% could have been prevented if proper dryer vent cleaning and other maintenance were done. One of the easiest – yet most forgotten about – dryer maintenance issues is cleaning the dryer’s lint filter. Your lint filter is located probably in one of three places: On top of the dryer, inside the back of the dryer or inside the dryer near the door. For regular cleaning instructions and/or if you can’t locate it, please see the manufacturer’s instructions that should have come with the appliance.   If lint and/or film has seemingly adhered itself to the trap’s screen, you can easily fix this by gently brushing it with a fine, bristled cleaning brush.
